About

With a surname like mine it’s hardly surprising to learn that I am an avid Welsh Rugby fan. I’ve also played a bit myself in the past, when I became known as ‘Mark the Munch’ (according to one newspaper at least)! Here’s a little snippet from my days on the pitch:

Mark Llewellyn-Slade, Awards Intelligence

Mark the Munch

Nowadays I take a slightly less physical stance as Chairman of Plumpton Rugby Club in Sussex.

Professionally you may already know me as the founder and Managing Director of Awards Intelligence – a unique company that helps individuals to make nominations for Queen’s honours, such as MBE, OBE, CBE, knighthoods and damehoods. We also help people to make nominations for high profile roles such as becoming a crossbencher in the House of Lords.

Our business support is focused on helping organisations to win the industry awards they deserve, and I’m proud to say there is no other specialist company out there that carries our extensive success rates across the board. We now also specialise in helping individuals and organisations to build their global brand through their social media profiles, TV and radio too – so you know where to come if any of these ideas float your boat!

I am often asked why I set up a company to help people and businesses get the recognition they deserve and raise their profiles through awards and honours.

Well it’s quite simple really. I spotted the demand and I wasn’t afraid to put all my energy into developing and building expertise in a highly specialist field. To be honest, I was also a bit irritated that great people were being overlooked because they didn’t ‘know the right people’ or weren’t very good at getting themselves noticed.

For many years I had worked in high level PR at the likes of Bell Pottinger and Weber Shandwick, my objective being to raise the profile of whoever I was working with at the time – for example, I was responsible for introducing Interbrew, the second largest brewer in the world, to the UK financial media. I also managed the account of British Nuclear Fuels amongst many others, proving that no matter who you are, there is always a good PR angle ready for you just around the corner.

Moving on to set up my own firm, Llewellyn-Slade PR, I found that my clients benefitted from building credibility and raising their profile through a variety of awards…and that’s where the seed for Awards Intelligence took hold…and the rest, as they say, is history.

So what’s this website all about then Mark? I hear you ask.

Well, not a day goes by that I don’t hear a remarkable tale of achievement, help someone get recognition for a friend, colleague or family member, advise and guide somebody on how to raise their profile, or comment on the wonders of an individual’s successes or achievements in the media.

I am constantly asked to share my PR tips, my media knowledge and my industry insights – and I want to give anyone who is interested access to information that could potentially change their lives.

I’m not going to pretend to be a fluffy, pc, writer whose voice is censored by their fears and anxieties. Oh no. Anyone who knows me will know that I say what I think, and I think what I say (that’ll be the Yorkshire gene). So take heed reader!

Welcome to my home online, do feel free to comment on my posts, I love to get a conversation going, and you can contact me directly if you’d like specific advice on one of my specialist topics or if you are interested in working together.

Looking forward to meeting you virtually!

Cheers,

Mark
